Our Program Director, Mario discovered CrossFit in 2005 during his days teaching kettlebell conditioning classes at the Krav Maga National Training Center in Los Angeles. He currently holds the following certifications: CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, Russian Kettlebell Challenge RKC Level 2 Instructor, FMS Certified Functional Movement Specialist, USAW Sports Performance Coach, CrossFit Gymnastics Certified Trainer, NASM-CPT, NESTA MMA Conditioning Coach, WKC Kettlebell Sport Fitness Instructor, Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher, and Black Belt Instructor Rank in Krav Maga from Krav Maga Worldwide.
Ivy is the CFSQ business manager and a senior instructor. She recently finished an 11 year career with the US Army. After several deployments to Iraq, she knew she needed to add more self-defense to her skill set. Ivy became a Krav Maga student in 2008 which led her to CrossFit. She is a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, a Russian Kettlebell Challenge RKC Instructor, FMS Certified Functional Movement Specialist, a Modern Army Combatives Instructor, a USAW Sports Performance Coach, a Level 4 Krav Maga student, and holds bachelor’s degree in Sport and Health Science.
Kandice was introduced to CrossFit in 2011. Shortly after, she realized she wanted to make a few changes in life. In July 2011 she received her CrossFit Level 1 Certification and became a NASM-CPT. Kandice hosts youth athletic camps geared to help children develop proper movement patterns building a strong fundamental base during the summer. Currently, she instructs a youth fitness class in the after school programs at Burruss and West Side Elementary School. In the winter, Kandice intends to continue her training with CrossFit Kids!
Eric (aka LB) found CrossFit and Krav Maga in 2009 and enjoys the intensity the two disciplines bring. Eric is a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, a StrongFirst SFG Kettlebell Level 2 Instructor, and a Level 3 Krav Maga student. Eric is an ex-collegiate all-conference middle linebacker and has degrees in both Social Psychology and Leadership. Eric is set attend the StrongFirst Level 2 Instructor Certification in January of 2014.
Greg’s athletic background began at the age of 15 when he began climbing. In 2010, he was introduced to CrossFit and he realized that he had some major gaps in his training. He is always looking to increase his knowledge about the human body and the many ways to make it stronger. In addition to being CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, he also has a 200 hour Hatha Yoga Instructor certification and completed the Gym Jones Level 1 certification with Mark Twight. As a trainer, continuing education is important Greg. He is currently working towards completing Rob Shaul’s Mountain and Military Athlete coaching certifications.
Eric Lichtfuss, LMT
After 14 years in the concert business, Eric was ready to make a change, and went to school to become a licensed massage therapist. While in massage school, he discovered CrossFit. He is the owner of Square Massage, CFSQ’s in-house massage practice. As an LMT and NASM-CPT personal trainer, Eric is particularly interested in helping people find personal growth by challenging themselves to get healthier, stronger and fit. Eric combines neuromuscular massage therapy, Active Isolated Stretching, personal training and corrective exercise. He also holds a BA in Communication from University of Maryland. In 2014, Eric plans on getting his FMS certification, and hopes to earn his StrongFirst Level 1 Instructor credential, as well as adding Kinesio Taping to his therapeutic and performance enhancement services.
Vanessa grew up a classically trained dancer in New Orleans, Louisiana. She received her bachelors degree in Dance, with a concentration in Body, Science, & Motion, at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City. She is an International Kettlebell & Fitness Federation (IKFF) certified kettlebell instructor, Candidate for Master of Sport in Girevoy (Kettlebell) Sport, and NASM-CPT. Vanessa is ranked 4th in the country in the sport of Powerlifting and is coached by the USAPL’s Coach of the Year, Matthew Gary. She currently studies at Life University on her quest to become a Knee Chest Upper Cervical Specific Doctor of Chiropractic. She is the founder and co-coach of the Life University Powerlifting Club Team. She also manages prettySTRONGpowerlifing.com; a strength training blog dedicated to promoting women in the sport of powerlifting.
Dave the “Undertaker” played high school and collegiate lacrosse at Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. After graduating with a degree in philosophy, he began powerlifting in May of 2010. Dave spent four years with Joe McAuliffe, a nationally recognized powerlifter and strength and conditioning specialist, from 2002-2005, learning proper technique in the power and Olympic lifts. Since starting his powerlifting career, Dave has trained under the USAPL World Team Head Coach, coaching committee chair, owner of Supreme Sports Performance Training (SSPT), and USAPL coach of the year (2012), Matthew Gary from Fall of 2011 to present. He attended the Reactive Training Systems & SSPT Powerlifting Seminar where he learned from some of the top minds in the sport on technique, form, programing, and nutrition. Dave enjoys teaching the sport of powerlifting and helping others to reach their fitness goals. He is also a student at Life University. After PRing her final deadlift at the 2013 Arnold Sports Festival Powerlifting Championship, Dave proposed to Vanessa. They will marry in June of this year.
Andrew Brodyn is a Z-Health Master Trainer (R,I,S,T,9S) specializing in Movement Reeducation, Integration, Performance, and Exercise Therapy. He has a strong passion for learning as much as he can from the world of functional neurology and applying those principles into a very successful personal training environment. Andrew is a graduate of Drew University, NJ and holds a number of other personal training certifications including FMS Lv1 (Functional Movement Expert), HKC (Hardstyle Kettlebell Instructor), and is a Certified Personal Trainer through NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine). Andrew dedicates a significant part of his life teaching and lecturing across the United States due to his passion to helping create the top 1% in his field. Andrew works with clients one-on-one and makes himself available to meet with busy clients for coaching sessions via video conferencing. Andrew is the only Z-Health Master Trainer in the state of Georgia and his recent research has been selected for publication in a peer-reviewed exercise and health journal.
Lyndzey Dare – Instructor Training Program Student
Lyndzey started taking gymnastics at 12 years old and has been coaching for almost 9 years, both recreational and competitive gymnastics. She was a member of the Georgia Tech club gymnastics team and practiced with KSU’s team. Currently, Lyndzey is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Gymnastics Clubs Alumni team. Lyndzey also played club rugby for UGA and Georgia Tech where she served as the vice president for the women’s rugby team. Lyndzey hosts gymnastics seminars for CrossFit athletes throughout the year. She is CrossFit Level 1 certified.
Jon Burklow – Instructor Training Program Student
Jon discovered CrossFit in January 2012. Having been an avid trail-runner, hiker, and mountain biker, Jon was looking for a more complete strength and conditioning program to assist with his various lifetime fitness goals. Since being introduced to CrossFit, Jon has successfully climbed Mount Kilimanjaro (along with some 14ers) in 2013 and has plans for more mountains in the future. He enjoys competing in the sport of powerlifting, trail running, and general CrossFit competitions. Jon is a Crossfit Level 1 Trainer and leads the CFSQ Endurance Team. Some of Jon’s recent PRs include: Powerlifting for Pink – 4th place/165lb class, Rock/Creek River Gorge – 6th in 20-29 class/top 15% overall, Mardi Gras 5k – 3rd Place in 24-29 class/top 2.5% overall, Owls Making Strides – 5th in 20-29 class/top 3.4% overall.
Andy joined CFSQ shortly after finishing a six year career with the US Army Rangers. Andy led an all-Ranger CrossFit team: 3RCAT (3rd Battalion Regimental Competitive Athletic Team) from Albany to Woodstock to Charleston. He spearheads the CFSQ competition and advanced skills class. Andy has a Level 1 CrossFit Trainer certificate, CrossFit Endurance certificate, a RAW Ranger Athlete Warrior certificate and holds a degree in psychology from George Mason University.
